Curating Expansive Experiences for Women

It’s about your experience in your body. That makes it an internal experience, with your body as the subject, not an object.

Examples of embodiment

Positive Embodiment:

  • Freedom to engage in enjoyable physical activities

  • Freedom to move and take up space

  • Safety from physical/sexual violence or abuse

  • Freedom from coercive body alterations and practices

  • Care of the body

  • Freedom of desire

  • Having a critical stance towards ideas about how women are “supposed to” look and behave

  • Freedom from prejudice and harassment

  • Social power is based on engagement in meaningful pursuits and tuning in to one’s needs

  • Empowering relationships

  • Being a part of equitable communities

Negative Embodiment:

  • Blocked from engagement in physical activities

  • Constriction of movement and physical space (trying to appear smaller, wearing constricting clothing or footwear that makes it hard to walk)

  • Exposure to physical/sexual violence or abuse

  • Engagement in coercive body alterations and practices (dieting, plastic surgery, refusing to leave the house with out makeup…ever)

  • Neglect of body care

  • Restriction of desire (this includes restriction of any of our “appetites”)

  • Internalization of the status quo, including ideas that women’s bodies are deficient and are object for the male gaze, as well as ideas that women should be submissive or demure and engage in only “feminine” activities

  • Exposure to prejudice and harassment

  • Social power is primarily based on appearance (which can be fleeting), with a lack of attunement to one’s needs

  • Disempowering relationships

  • Part of inequitable communities (or no community at all)

Learn the basics

Hi, I’m Jennifer.

I host experiences that connect women with nature, each other, and most importantly with themselves.

What happens next is called embodiment. An embodied woman trusts herself, knows her deepest desires, and aligns with them.

Embodiment improves:

  • emotion regulation

  • self-awareness

  • health and wellness

  • relationship skills

The most important aspects of embodiment are

laughter and having fun!

For years, I used my love of nature as a salve to tend to my struggle with anxiety and depression.

When I was younger, I worked as a wilderness instructor leading backpacking, rock climbing and whitewater paddling trips for children and teens throughout the Appalachian Mountains.

When I was a new mom, I worked as a naturalist and started a habitat exploration program for parents and toddlers at Discovery Park in Seattle, WA. I began writing a memoir using the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest as a lens to describe the complex emotions of motherhood, especially the unexpected rage and despair.

After years of suffering not knowing how to navigate my inner world, I finally found a blend of modalities that support me in taking care of my whole self. I’ve found that regardless of what women actually think about their abilities, it’s in groups that we flourish, heal, and empower ourselves. When we are witness to one another, striving to do something new or challenging, that’s when the real transformation happens. That’s when we are truly seen.

You’re meant to start thriving doing what you love, or something brand new. For you and your whole family! Being of service to women as a mentor is deeply important work to me. Feel free to reach out for more information or questions.
